SAVE the DATE & your COSTUMES!
I know what you're thinking ... I've heard of Christmas in July, but Halloween in August? Isn't it too early to start thinking about costumes and candy and craziness? Not if you're thinking about ways to minimize waste and maximize fun! And there's no better way to do that for Halloween than participating in National Costume Swap Day. A costume swap is recycling at its most fun. Kids get new-to-them costumes, and parents get to save money and the planet. National Costume Swap Day is the brainchild of Corey and Lynn, moms from Issaquah, and founders of a grassroots, non-profit known as Green Halloween®. Macaroni Kid & Kindermusik Studio has decided to bring this event to our community with DROP-SWAP-PLAY! Before you toss out that "old" costume or head to the store to buy a new one, plan to participate in National Costume Sway Day on Saturday, October 8, 2011. Stay Tuned to our website for updates! 10AM-12PM URL: lancaster.macaronikid.com Address: To Be Finalized in beginning of September Contact: Macaroni Kid Lancaster, PA |

The 2nd Annual FREE Costume Swap will be held on Sunday, September 30th from 2pm – 5pm at Blakley Hall. “A costume swap is recycling at its most fun,” said Corey Colwell-Lipson, founder of Green Halloween. “It not only means that fewer resources are used to make new products, but also means less packaging and less waste, since costumes often are trashed as soon as Halloween is over. People will really be making a difference in their community.” In fact, swapping the costumes of only half of the children who celebrate Halloween would reduce annual landfill waste by 6,250 tons, equivalent to the weight of 2500 midsize cars. And that doesn't even address adult costumes. Donate your kid’s old costumes and dress-up clothes at Blakley Hall during weekday business hours and receive an official admissions pass to return on September 30th to pick out a different look for this year’s trick-or-treat season festivities! Highlands Council is grateful to Cub Scout Pack 680 for co-sponsoring this FREE event.
