About Us

Name: Ciana

Position: Coordinator

Email: dbgreenhalloween@gmail.com

Ciana has been a resident of Daytona since 2006.  She is a proud wife and homemaker, and mother of two energetic goblins.  She enjoys all things “green” and feels very privileged to be the first Green Halloween coordinator for the city of Daytona Beach.

She is ecstatic by the growing interest in Green Halloween in the Daytona Beach area. It is evident the local community citizens and culture are becoming increasingly enthusiastic about conservation, environmental friendly products, urban agriculture, and positive progressive change.

Besides being a wife, mother and homemaker living the “natural” way, working with other “green” minded people, promoting local eco businesses, community food security, edible and sustainable landscaping, and working towards a truly sustainable lifestyle are her passions, Ciana is a co-founder of Florida EcoNet, President of the South Atlantic Neighborhood Association, Co-Director of Daytona Improvement Gardeners (DIG), and a member of the Heritage Preservation Trust.

If you would like to join as a co-coordinator of the Daytona Beach Green Halloween movement please contact Ciana at dbgreenhalloween@gmail.com.

Name: Elizabeth Flynn

Position: Co-coordinator

Email: eliflynn@cfl.rr.com

A Florida native born in Ft. Lauderdale, Elizabeth moved to her husband Tom’s hometown of Ormond Beach in 2001. With a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Florida, Elizabeth worked in the corporate sector as a Technical Writer before becoming a stay-at-home mother to Jude, 10, and Gabrielle, 4.

Elizabeth’s strong connection to the environment and promoting its protection makes itself evident in her frequent speaking engagements to schools, churches, and clubs on behalf of the National Wildlife Federation, of which she is a Volunteer Habitat Steward, and the Florida Native Plant Society, which awarded the Flynn’s home landscape the Native Plant Landscape Award in 2008. She enthusiastically promotes the use of Florida native plants to other homeowners, educates about the wasteful misuse of water, non-renewable fuels, herbicides and pesticides in the landscape, and helps others with strategies for creating suitable backyard habitats for wildlife.

In the last several years, under the direction of Russian instructor/choreographer Yana Maxwell, Elizabeth has discovered a love of Middle Eastern-inspired dance. “Being a member of the Daytona Beach Belly Dance troupe has been a lovely, liberating, surprisingly powerful experience for me. I love when we can share this beautiful feminine art form at local community events. The ladies of DBBD will again perform at Daytona Beach Green Halloween celebration this year.
