Trick-or-treat for cell phones

http://www.gooddeedfoundation.org/halloween
Collecting unwanted cell phones along your trick-or-treat route is simple. Request a free Halloween collection kit by visiting Good Deed Foundation. The kit includes eCards and door hangers to remind your neighbors to have their unused cell phones ready for collection this Halloween. After trick-or-treating, drop your collected phones into the postage paid box included in the kit, FedEx it, and the Women’s Funding Alliance and Good Deed will take care of the rest.

The Women’s Funding Alliance and other women’s funds around the country are working in multiple ways (such as partnering with Green Halloween) with the Good Deed Foundation to collect cell phones. The goal is to recycle one million cell phones by the end of the year, thereby raising over a million dollars to be distributed via grants to organizations working to alleviate women’s poverty and find lasting solutions to climate change.

The cell phones will be recycled through ReCellular, which recycles and refurbishes old cell phones according to EPA standards to generate funds for charitable causes.

Great for teens who want to go door-to-door, but have outgrown traditional trick-or-treating.
