Tremendous progress is being made for our upcoming Green Halloween/Marin EcoMom Alliance Chapter kick-off party! I have to give major props to some outstanding fellow EcoMom’s.

   We have a great major sponser and many thanks to Elephant Pharmacy. Several “in kind” sponsers will be providing various healthy goodies to give away. A fabulous location at Besty Rosenberg’s home in Tiburon. Many, many thanks go out to her for being so gracious as to host this event. I don’t want to forget to mention Kirsten Arapajian who has been  amazing in helping to coordinate the Evite, and obtain donations for the food. Of course I could not be involved with all of this without the support and inspiration from EcoMom Founder, Kimberly Pinkson along with Corey, Founder of Green Halloween!

I’m working with my childrens’s  local school and PTA to hopefully particpate in Green Halloween. There has been such wonderful feedback from people and they just are very attracted to the potenial of thinking outside the candy box and reducing the massive amount of waste that goes along with a typical Halloween.

  There are a couple more Green Halloween events in the works. One of which will be a shopping night and discount to mom’s at Elephant Pharmacy to purchase some of the healthy and tasty treats for the trick-or-treaters who come to their doors.

I am also in collaboration with another local Non-profit Sustainable Fairfax. We’ll be hosting a Green Halloween Event there at their Sustainability Center on Saturday, October 25th from 2-4pm. This event will be a family friendly one, including recycled costume making, eco-arts & craft tables, local children’s entertainer Miss Kitty will sing songs,a local gardens food swap and Besty Rosenberg will there to provide Green Tips to parents for greening their Halloween.

I hope to see many smiling kids and parents along the way. In the not to distant future I hope to find that Green Halloween becomes a normal way of thinking about any holiday and how much fun we can still have and be conscienous about our health and our’s planets resources.
